Gargles
A little barley-water & honey with
a little Vinegar makes a useful gargle
for softening and cleansing the mouth in
fevers-
Cooling Gargle
Water six Ouncez; honey 1 ouncez-. Nitre
a dram & a half- useful in fevers
& inflammatory Quinseys-
A decoction of Figs in milk & water
is still more useful than the foregoing
in inflammatory Quinseys-especially
if some Sal Ammoniac be added-
Infusion of Tamarinds and Sena
Tamarinds 1 Ouncez, Sena and crystals
of Tartar, each 2 drams-infuse
4 or 5 Hours in a pint of Boiling
Water- strain the liquor & add an
ounce or two of the aromatic Tincture
-. [┌or you may ┐] A tea-cupful may be taken every
half hour till it operates-
Laxative absorbent mixture
Rub one dram of magnesia alba with
ten or twelve grains of the best turkey
Rhubarb- add 3 Ouncez of common water,
cinnamon water, & sugar of each 1 Ouncez-
a tablespoon is a dose. repeate'd 3 times
a day- to a very young child half a
spoonful-
