Recipe or Medicine for Vomiting Draught, piles, laxative and coughs
Vomiting Draught<br />{<del>Curran</del>} ten Drams of Ipecacuanha Wine <br /><br />Lenitive Electuary<br />Sena in fine Powder, eight ounces;<br />coriander weed also in powder four<br />Ounces; pulp of Tamarinds and french<br />Prunes, of each a Pound. Boil up<br />the pulps to the consistence of Honey;<br />then add a quantity of Treacle equal<br />to the weight of all the other ingredients<br />& continue the Boiling a little longer<br />afterwards mix in the powders-<br />you may add a little jalap & c- <br /><br />Electuary for the piles<br />Flowers of Brimstone 1 o<em>unce</em>z- Cream of Tarter<br />half an ounce; Treacle 2 S<em>poons</em>-<br />A teaspon may be taken 3 or 4<br />times a day -<br /><br />Concotsion of Gum Ammoniac<br />Gum Ammoniac 2 Drams, water<br />8 o<em>unce</em>z- Grind the gum with the water<br />pour’d upon it by degrees till it is <br />dissolved- <br />It is useful in attenuating tough viscous<br />phlegm and promoting expectoration.

A plaister made of catmint, the<br />white of an egg Brandy, & Mastich- <br />[<del>very</del>]strengthening- good in Ruptures<br />& the toothache -<br /><br />Whitloes on their first appearance<br />shou<em>l</em>’d be frequently immers<em>e'</em>d in<br />warm water- Sorrel boil<em>e'</em>d & bruis<em>e</em>'d<br />a good poultice for them & boil<em>e</em>'d.<br /><br />Fungous or proud flesh- sprinkled<br />with Minium or burnt Allum - <br /><br />Warts may be cur<em>e</em>’d by strong<br />vinegar charg<em>e</em>’d with as much com-<br />-mon salt as it will dissolve<br /><br />Corns- a leaf of housleek- Ground ivy gum <br />Ammoniacum soften<em>e</em>’d in<br />vinegar- or Purslain dipp<em>e</em>’d in vinegar
